Welcome to 3rd grade! This year is certain to be an exciting time for both you and your child. Your son or daughter will soon be taking the STAAR for the first time. My job is to prepare your child for success on the STAAR test, in 4th grade and beyond.
This year many academic requirements have been added to your child's plate of what is expected for him or her to learn by the end of the year. So hang on students and parents. We have a lot to learn!
Trust is something that is earned. With that said, thank you for allowing me to earn your trust in educating your child.
It is a daunting task that together we can achieve. It is something that I take very seriously.
I am always available if you ever have any concerns or questions about our child's education. Please do not hesitate to call me at 774-4000(ext 6137) if you are in need of help or would like to discuss ways in which we can help your child reach his or her personal best.
My conference hours are from 9:00-9:45 a.m. but feel free to call at any time. If I am not available, please leave a message and I will return your call as soon as I can.
Together we can prepare your child for not only academic success, but help your son or daughter reach their potential as the child and future adult they are meant to be.
I have a bachelors of science in education from UTEP. My certifications include monolingual and bilingual elementary education from PK -8th grade and a special education certification from PK-12th grade. I have taught special education grades 2- 6, monolingual 2nd grade, and bilingual 3rd, and 5th grade. I am happy to say this is my 6th year at Moye Elementary.
Every single grade has something both beautiful and challenging but I must admit I have enjoyed teaching 3rd grade immensely. The higher level discussions they now are able to understand more readily, the independence they are gaining, and the input they are sharing about justice ,"fairness," are a joy to see blossom at this age. They are students (as all are) that truly want to be heard at this age. This is yet another grade level where student involvement with the community is key in helping them fuel their passions about making this world a better place.
Besides my first love -education - I have also worked overseas on Johnston Atoll in the CRP(Chemical Reliability Program). It was there that I learned how to scuba dive, windsurf, and sail! Being born and raised in El Paso, it was a blessing to be around so much water! I am a graduate of Loretto Academy. I have fond memories of growing up in this very neighborhood that I now teach in.
My aspirations are to build up this neighborhood together and continue to see it grow in a positive way for our children and our children's children.
